Flavours of the Riverland

Flavours of the Riverland is a charming tasting café and artisan providore nestled in the small town of Cobdogla, just five minutes west of Barmera. Born from a humble wood-fired oven built in the backyard, Backyard Bread Flavours of the Riverland has grown into a celebration of the Riverland’s seasonal produce, culinary diversity, and community spirit.

Located on the western approach to Barmera, the café offers visitors a delicious way to explore the flavours of the region. Their signature Bread Bites—naturally flavoured flatbreads—and gluten-free biscuits are inspired by the native ingredients and textures of the Riverland, each handmade with care and creativity.

Beyond their own baked goods, Flavours of the Riverland are further showcased through a curated selection of gourmet products sourced from local and South Australian producers—think small-batch olive oil, preserves, nuts, and pantry staples that reflect the best of the region.

Whether you're picking up local treats, enjoying a tasting experience, or simply pausing on a road trip through the Riverland, Backyard Bread offers a warm, authentic taste of South Australia’s food culture.
